Primary 6B - WB 07.10.24
Dear readers,
We hope you are all well.
This week our highlights were:
- Our spelling work on the new words from the Nowhere Emporium.
- Continuing reading the Nowhere Emporium everyday, which is, by the way, getting more and more interesting by the day!
- Revising the rules on how use direct speech correctly – most of us still find this particularly hard so we are going to continue working on this to make sure everyone can confidently do it.
- Adding 3 and 4 numbers together using the vertical layout.
- Adding up to 4 and 5 digit numbers with missing numbers.
- Our work on the Greek temples, which is simply phenomenal! The display with the temples from both Primary 6A and 6B was welcoming all the parents and carers to our Parents Evenings and we had many great comments about how amazing they were!
- PE this week was taught by the coaches of the West Lothian Football Academy and most of our children absolutely loved it!
- On Thursday we celebrated International Mental Health Awareness Day and had a whole day focus on the various factors that can contribute to mental health problems. We have also discussed all the things that can be done to help people who are feeling they are suffering with mental health problems and highlighted the importance of speaking to someone when we are not feeling well. Sharing something that is worrying us can help us feel better and that is the whole point of this day! “Are you okay?” is the name of the short film made to celebrate this day and after watching it we had a very good discussion about how important it is to watch out for the ones around us and help them in case they need. After all, one of our goals for the year is to become kinder and kinder.
- In Spanish we are becoming really good at saying how old we are and what we look like.
- On Friday we had a Philosophy lesson taught by Mrs McLaughlin during which we have been asked to imagine the events behind a picture shown to all and it was very interesting to see how different our ideas were. From really dark ones… to very innocent and lovely ones!
- Still regarding Health and Well being we had to draw in tiny circles the 12 things that make us happy. Really happy in our hearts. Beautiful work!
- At the very end of the week we were sad to say goodbye to our lovely Ayat who will be moving house and school and so we have prepared some very special gifts for her to take and always remember about us.She also received the Saint John Ogilvie medal to remind her that, once part of the SJO Family, you will always be a part of the SJO Family! Of course we have wished her all the luck and best wishes for her new journey and said we hope to see her again soon!
- We have all nominated Ayat to be our Hot Chocolate of the Week and she seemed very happy about that, which was lovely!
- Once again, the best, tidiest table was Jude, Layla, Ishani M and Daniel A’s and we congratulate them once more for that! Well done!
That’s all for now, we say goodbye wishing everyone a healthy, peaceful and happy October break with lots of love and good things happening!
