P5B Week Beginning 21st April 2025
Hello P5 Families,
I hope you had a lovely Easter holiday and enjoyed some of that lovely sunshine we had in the first week. I believe it will return next week! It was so lovely to see all of the children again and to welcome two new pupils, Olivia and Aadhya, who have settled well in to St John Ogilvie.
Here are our learning highlights from the Blue Table:
Flynn liked learning about the life of Pope Francis. Some interesting facts about his life: he was one of 5 children, he was born Jorje Mario Bergoglio, he was the 266th Pope and chose his name as he admired the life and work of St Francis of Assisi.
Ellie-May and Amelia both report that they are continuing to enjoy our class novel. This week the children were excited to have it read by Mrs Lafferty’s PE student, Miss Howe.
Nathan liked playing Rounders for PE.
Nicolas and Addison have LOVED making their sustainable school for the Climate Smart Award. A big thank you to everyone who brought in recyclable materials for this project! The models are starting to take shape now. This will be our learning focus between now and the in-school judging on May 16th. The teamwork, enthusiasm and ideas from the children are AMAZING! I am so proud of everyone for their contributions.
David enjoyed maths this week were we learned how to find the Area of irregular shapes.
Aaeryn-Leigh liked PE today with Miss Howe.
Olivia was introduced to the recorder this week with Mrs Morrison and has listed it as a favourite learning experience this week. Olivia shared that she plays other instruments too including the ukulele!
My highlight was welcoming everyone back to school after our 2 week break. I always miss the children terribly when we have a holiday.
Congratulations to David, our Hot Chocolate Award winner this week!
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
