Cyber Attack update

Investigation work has been ongoing into the impact of the council's education network as a result of the criminal attack.

Primary 2/1 Learning Highlights 23rd May 2025

This week the Friendly Dragon brought us the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We designed a new chair for Baby Bear as he was very upset that his chair had been broken. We used art straws or loose parts to build our chairs and the staff were very pleased with our determination and perseverance. We sequenced the story correctly by cutting and sticking the pictures and we even wrote a letter pretending to be Goldilocks. We wrote to Baby Bear to say sorry for all the things Goldilocks had done and we tried hard to use all our sounds.

In maths, we have been working on addition strategies and we have been very good at explaining what we need to do. We completed a task on Seesaw where we used the pen tool to show our working out on a number line.

In RE, the P1s worked with our Buddies to paint stones for our garden with the theme of Hope. The P2s made pictures that with the same theme. We have also continued practising the Hail Mary prayer.

On Wednesday, we had the last Celtic Croft session. We celebrated with P7s at our Ceilidh. We sang the songs to them and then we showed them all the dances we have learned.

On Thursday, the Friendly Dragon left us another letter and ingredients to make porridge. We tasted the porridge plain, with honey and then with cinnamon and we chose our favourite. The staff were very pleased that everyone had a try of the porridge and some people even asked for more! We made a pictogram to show the results of our favourite flavour along with P1 and P2. The honey was a clear favourite and we ran out of space on the wall to show it!

For Outdoor Learning, we had to read words on the markers and then find the correct picture magnet from around the MUGA. We then had some races to find the answers to addition sums on the cones. In the Woodland, we had some time at the fire pit to practise our safety rules with a real fire! We practised kneeling at the fire so that the next time we have a fire we can toast marshmallows.

Some of our personal highlights this week are:

Vivaan – I enjoyed tasting the porridge.

Zenith – I enjoyed writing to Baby Bear.

Freddie – I enjoyed tasting the porridge.

Miles – I enjoyed making the porridge.

Dawid – I enjoyed going to PE.

Danvith – I enjoyed writing to The Bears.

Congratulations to Tyler who is our Hot Chocolate winner this week. He has been trying hard with his sounds. Well done to Joseph who is our Reading Champion this week. He has been trying hard to read his book in a group.
