Investigation work has been ongoing into the impact of the council's education network as a result of the criminal attack.

Primary 3 Learning Highlights 23rd and 30th May

What a fantastic two weeks in P3!

We have been working hard in our literacy focussing on common words again and practicing them using our active strategies! We are still flying through our books each week. We started recount writing last week, we planned our writing last week and did our written piece this week.

In numeracy we finished up our division last week by looking at the formal written method, and are now focussing on fractions. This week we have been focussing mainly on a half with a little bit of thirds and quarters too. Our beyond number as had a measure focus, last week we explored centimetres and meters and this week we measured objects and noted down sizes.

Outdoor learning over the last two weeks has been so much fun! We have been learning how to start a fire using a flint and steel. Lots of us managed to get a piece of cotton wool on fire but some of us didn’t manage it! Despite that we all tried super hard and gave it our best shot! On Monday, we had a visit from Rob with Kids Gone Wild and his lovely dog Jax. They led an outdoor learning session in the woodlands where we got to go on a rope swing and relax in hammocks.

Our space topic has been a big hit! We designed lots of planets and stars last week and this week we have been learning about the sun and moon.

We have been continuing to say a decade of the rosary in class over the last two weeks.  We designed a little card about a hope we have for the future for our Jubilee of Hope day and these are now on a shield which is displayed for everyone to see. We learned about the feast of the ascension and why we celebrate it.

Well done to all of our winners over the last 2 weeks.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! I will see you all on Monday.
