Primary 1B Learning Highlights 22nd August 2025

We have had a fantastic first full week of school! The staff have been so impressed by how quickly we are picking up the routines of the class.

This week in Literacy we have been learning all about same, different, loud and quiet. We enjoyed using the musical instruments to practise same but had even more fun using them to be loud! We worked well during group tasks to colour in the same items and then find the item that was different.

In Maths, we have been learning all about 0 and 1. We can write these using the correct formation and have been able to represent the numbers in different ways. We used ten frames to show the number and we are very quick at showing these numbers with our finger patterns.

In RE, we have been learning all of our Daily Prayers and we are becoming more confident in saying these together.

We have made our Class Charter and have thought carefully about how we can show we are Ready, Respectful and Safe. We have been keeping the classroom safe for everyone by tidying it up and we have earned some House Points for this.

In Health and Wellbeing, we learned about what to do when there is a fire. We lined up and walked out to the MUGA very sensibly. We have learned all about the Happy and Sadness spots and what zones they live in. For writing, we drew pictures about things that make us happy and told our sentence to the staff.

In PE, we have been learning to safely find a space in the hall and to listen to instructions. We enjoyed playing traffic lights, tunnel tig and the fruit game to help us practise these skills.

We met up with our Buddies for some reading time on Friday and enjoyed sharing the books with them.

Here are some of our personal highlights from this week:

Victoria – I enjoyed playing in the Ice Cream Shop.

Hanna – I enjoyed writing 0.

Carson – I enjoyed learning about Sadness Spot.

Ignacy – I enjoy playing with the marbles.

Oliver – I enjoyed running around at PE.

Freya – I enjoyed playing with the toys.

Miss Stebbing – It was lovely to meet some of the families at our Meet the Teacher event on Wednesday. I enjoyed seeing the excitement of all the children to show their families around our classroom.
