P5B week Beginning 11th November 2024
Hello families of P5B!
Here are our highlights this week as recorded by the Red table (due to absences, only 4 people were present to give their highlight so they have given two):
Matthais has enjoyed listening to the story ‘The Lorax’ in preparation for next week’s Book Week activities based on this story. The children are excited to be visiting other classrooms each day for this themed learning. He liked the part where the Lorax could not talk too much due to all the smog. This story will lend well to our Climate Smart lessons due to the deforestation and pollution theme. He also enjoyed contributing to a whole class ‘Kindness’ display as part of Anti Bullying Week and World Kindness Day on Wednesday.
Kacper has continued to love listening to our class novel ‘The Midnight Gang’. We only read a chapter or two per day but hope to finish it during Book Week. The chapter ‘Deep, Deep, Trouble’ has been his favourite so far. He also recounts how continuing to work on Enterprise has been enjoyable for him.
Rowan has loved maths lessons this week that involved dividing up to 4 digit numbers by 10, 100 and 1000. Some of those answers involved decimal points so we have been working on understanding their place value and understanding them as fractions. He also shared that Word Boost Corners (a class favourite) has been the best part of his week.
Jayden said that the ‘World Kindness Day’ virtual assembly was his highlight. We joined schools across the UK to learn together about what it means to show kindness. We heard that if we are kind to one person, we are in fact potentially being kind to 125 people due to the ripple effect. He also enjoyed making 3D shapes with nets of cuboids and cubes with Mrs Morrrison.
My highlight was the reaction the children had when I accidentally broke one of our table-top lamps! I was showered with comments such as, “Don’t worry, it was just an accident” and such like. This is a reflection of how nurturing and kind the children of P5B are.
Congratulations to our hot chocolate award winner Daniel and Michael, our Reading Champ!
Just a reminder that we have our ‘Sharing the Learning’ event on Thursday (2pm or 6pm). This will be an opportunity for your child to proudly showcase their jotter work so far in the school year and have learning conversations with you about what they have being doing and what they are proud of.
