Primary 2/1 Learning Highlights 29th November 2024
This week the Primary 1s have been very busy rehearsing for the Nativity. We have been on the stage and our singing is fantastic! We have remembered when to say our lines and when we have to move around the stage. We can’t wait to perform for everyone in a few weeks.
In RE, we learned all about St Andrew and on Friday we made some flags to celebrate St Andrew’s Day. Mrs McKissack sent us a special treat to enjoy!
In Literacy, we have been learning two sounds this week and these were ‘e’ and ‘f’. We enjoyed writing the letters and some people even wrote their own books. We also made ‘f’ using the blocks and other loose parts. For writing, we were focussing on using the word ‘and’ and we wrote some super sentences.
In Maths, we have been learning about the counting on strategy to help us with addition. We had to help Miss Stebbing as she got a bit confused. We also did a bit more work on making different amounts of money with the coins.
We started our new topic all about Toys. We sorted toys into old and new toys after reading The Old Toy Room.
On Thursday, some of us found ice in the playground. We brought it into the classroom to watch it melt.
For Road Safety Week, we read the story of Super Cat who helped us think about crossing the road safely. We then went up to the zebra crossing to practise.
Some of our personal highlights this week are:
Zac – I enjoyed playing families.
Elsie – I enjoyed writing.
Harrison – I enjoyed playing with the blocks.
Danvith – I enjoyed making a pretend car.
Hallie – I enjoyed doing the bookbug activities with my mum.
Vivaan – I enjoyed doing Spanish.
Congratulations to Amariah who is our Hot Chocolate winner for always being helpful and working hard. Well done to Vivaan who is our Reading Champion, he has been reading confidently with expression.
