P5B Week Beginning 6th January 2025
Hello families of P5B! Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely holiday. I have missed the children so much and am delighted to see them all return. Some of them have really sprouted up!
Here are our highlights this week as recorded by the Yellow table:
Daniel, Vinayakarthik and Ellie-May have really enjoyed Dodgeball with Mrs Lafferty (don’t worry, the balls are soft).
Alex has appreciated our lessons on recreating the famous painting ‘The Angelus’ as part of our learning about this prayer. The children heard how Mrs Brown had this painting hung in her home as a little girl.
Anthony said that the highlight of his week was a very special prayer service we had on Monday about God’s forgiveness.
Ksawery has loved making a PowerPoint about Scotland’s towns and cities for our new topic. The children have not only been improving their research skills but have been learning to save images, copy and paste.
Nathan has recounted how the story he started on Free Writing Friday was the best part of his week. The children were tasked with creating an imaginative story with the character of a polar bear (this will link to an upcoming art lesson). They were welcome to read out what they had written so far and we had some very creative ideas! We look forward to finishing it next Friday as we only had limited time this week.
Moeez reports that having fun in the snow was a memorable moment for him this week.
Olek has been enjoying learning some Scots language with Mrs Morrison. Over the next 2 weeks, in celebration of the upcoming Burns Day, the children will be exploring some of their Scottish heritage through poetry and will be creating some of their own with some Scots language too! I am really looking forward to these learning experiences!
My highlight was our lesson on New Year Resolutions. The children looked through their literacy and maths jotters and identified what they would like to improve upon this year as well as setting a personal goal. We had some that ranged from learning to tie shoelaces, joining in on Fruit Friday, to making their own beds. Fingers crossed! Mrs Brown’s was to drink more water.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Mrs Brown
