Primary 2/1 Learning Highlights 4th April 2025
This week has been very busy and very exciting in Primary 2/1.
We have been learning all about Holy Week in RE. We created some beautiful Easter art and completed a special cross with pictures of all the events of Holy Week. We made our own palms and acted out the events on Palm Sunday. Mrs Broadley read us the Easter Story in Spanish and we were very good at remembering the days of the week.
In Literacy, we have been learning the ‘igh’ and ‘ng’ sounds. We have a special activity in the tuff tray where we need to make the words hidden in the Easter Eggs.
Mrs Carlyle brought in a doll that is the same weight as a real baby. We got to hold it and practise holding a baby correctly. We took the baby outside during our Big Lent Walk and played an April Fool’s Joke on the staff. They thought it was a real baby!
We have been making lots of Easter crafts and we particularly enjoyed making Easter nest cakes. We also made Bunny Ear Headbands.
For Outdoor Learning, we had an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt and we wore our bunny ear headbands to complete this.
We had some time with our P7 Buddies who gave us a card and a special treat for Easter.
Our Reading Buddies in P6 organised a special Easter Egg Hunt for us in the area. They had made beautiful crochet chicks for us.
Some of our personal highlights for this week are:
Freddie – I enjoyed playing in the Garden Centre role play area.
Martha – I enjoyed making Easter crafts.
Elsie – I enjoyed learning about Jesus.
Vivaan – I enjoyed doing PE.
Izhaan – I enjoyed colouring in the Easter crafts.
Dawid – I enjoyed playing with the stampers.
Well done to Danvith who is our Reading Champion for this fortnight. He has been confidently reading in a group. Congratulations to Viaan who is our Hot Chocolate Winner this week. He has settled so well into our class and has worked so hard this week.
