P1 Learning Highlights 4th April 2025

We have had a super busy and fun week in Primary One.

On Monday we had an outdoor learning session Kids Gone Wild with Rob and his therapy dog Jax.  We got to play sticky boots and we walked along a slack line.  It was very wobbly and we had to use our balance to help us stay up right.  Mrs Russell was very proud and impressed with us all for walking across the line and being so brave.

In Religion this week we learned about Holy Week, we made palm leaves and acted out the Palm Sunday story.  We also heard about what happened on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

In Literacy, we have been learning the ‘igh’ and ‘ng’ sounds and revising our common words and all sounds taught.

As part of our Health and Well Being and a follow up to our baby visit last week Mrs Carlyle brought in a doll that is the same weight as a real baby. We got to hold it and practise holding a baby correctly. We all really enjoyed holding the doll and giving it cuddles.

We have been making lots of Easter crafts and we particularly enjoyed making Easter nest cakes and baskets. We also made Bunny Ear Headbands and hopped around like bunnies.

This week we brought home our little sunflowers to look after at home.  We know they need sunlight and water.

For Outdoor Learning today, we had an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt and we wore our bunny ear headbands to complete this.  We had lots of fun finding all the pictures.

We made Easter Gifts for our Buddies and they gave us all a lovely Easter basket with eggs.  Our Reading Buddies in P6 organised a special Easter Egg Hunt for us in the area. They had made beautiful crochet chicks for us.

Today we took our door stops home with a wee message to let our families know about them.  We had them on our class altar and now we will take them home to display at home.

Our weekly highlights:

Daniel ‘I loved the slack line’

Cerys ‘I liked making buddy cards’

Tiara ‘ I liked seeing the dog’

Emilio ‘I liked when I found the egg and the chick with p6

Alfie ‘I liked palying in the woods’

Oskar ‘I liked to play in the playground finding the pictures’

Felix ‘I liked drawing’.

Well done to Tiara our Hot Chocolate winner and to Antosh our Reading Champion for this fortnight.

We wish everyone a wonderful holiday with your family and Friends. Hopefully the weather stays nice and the sun continues to shine.
