Primary 2/1 Learning Highlights 25th April 2025

It was lovely to have everyone back in class this week!

In Literacy, we have been looking at comprehension skills and reading short sentences. We completed a task on Seesaw to show our understanding. We listened to lots of stories about helping our Earth as we were celebrating Earth Day. We also did some writing to make a promise about how we can help the Earth.

In maths, we have been looking at place value and focussing on numbers to 30. We used numicon to represent the numbers and enjoyed erasing the numbers off the smartboard when Miss Stebbing said them.

In RE, we have been thinking about Pope Francis and learning the Eternal Rest Prayer.

We found out the last animal for our Celtic Croft Music Project and we were very happy to find out it was a goat called Gertie. Next week we will be learning some Scottish songs.

In Health and Wellbeing, we learned about the different bins we have at home and what needs to be put in each bin. We worked as a team to sort the pictures into the correct bins. We were very pleased when we got some correct.

During Outdoor Learning, we practised writing our capital letters and numbers in the playground using chalk. We also had some choosing our own learning time and enjoyed using the footballs and playing on the pirate ship. The highlight of our week was going out litter picking. We were all very excited to collect the litter but also very shocked at the amount of rubbish we collected from the path alongside the school.

Some of our personal highlights this week are:

Harmony – I enjoyed playing in the sand.

Joseph – I enjoyed writing about Earth Day.

Danvith – I enjoyed playing with the cards.

Miles – I enjoyed playing with the blocks.

Izhaan – I enjoyed playing with the fire truck.

Tyler – I enjoyed playing in the house.

Congratulations to Freddie who is our Hot Chocolate winner. He has been working very hard on his tasks and always tries his best. Well done to Amariah, who is our Reading Champion this week. She has been trying hard to read her reading book.
