Primary 2/1 Learning Highlights 2nd May 2025
What an exciting week we have had in P2/1!
On Monday morning, we had a session with Rob and Jax from Kids Gone Wild. We read The Stick Man and then we built a Stick Man Family Tree with items in the woodlands. Rob was very impressed with our skills in the Woodlands and our creativity. We loved having a chance to see Jax and we thought it was very funny when he was barking at people walking past and when he was sweeping the leaves with his tail!
On Monday afternoon, we received a special letter from The Friendly Dragon. The Dragon was asking for help to rebuild Fairyland as the magic was fading as people are not reading fairy tales. We wrote back to The Dragon and posted our letters in the special post box it had left us. On Wednesday, we received another letter and special castle books to keep our work in. We learned all about the different parts of a castle and then decorated our books. The Dragon leaves special stars alongside the letter so we know that it has visited. We are very excited to help The Dragon and have been enthusiastically telling everyone about our special visitor.
On Thursday, we attended mass at St. Peter’s and we got to take the Pilgrim Paul teddy with us. As we behaved so well at mass we stopped off at the park on the way home. We have created our May Altar and we drew lots of beautiful flowers to put on the wall behind it.
In maths, we have been learning about quarters. We folded paper into quarters and designed a flag for The Dragon’s Castle. We are going to put them up on the wall and then they will appear in Fairyland.
On Friday, we had time in our House Groups and got to make self portraits. Then we went outside for a minibeast hunt. We loved using the bug viewers and found lots of interesting creatures.
Some of our personal highlights this week are:
Muhammad – I enjoyed making the castle books.
Amariah – I enjoyed writing the letter.
Joseph – I enjoyed learning the Celtic Croft song.
Miles – I enjoyed doing the flags.
Zenith – I enjoyed making a flag.
Hallie – I enjoyed writing to the dragon.
Congratulations to our Hot Chocolate Winner Harrison. He is has worked very hard this week, especially in Maths.
