Primary 2/1 Learning Highlights 9th May 2025
We have had another visit from the Friendly Dragon. He asked us to design some leaves for Jack’s Beanstalk and we were happy to help. We had a look at the leaves in the playground and then used different media to complete our leaves. We left them for the Dragon and on Friday when we came into the classroom the Dragon had made us a beanstalk!
As we have been learning about Jack and the Beanstalk this week we used magic beans to make arrays. We made different groups of 2 and worked out how many there were altogether. We have set the activity up in the tuff tray as we really enjoyed it.
We used our imaginations and drama skills to climb a beanstalk in the playground. We could hear the harp and we saw the hen. We even ate some of the Giant’s food from a huge table. We ran really fast when he heard the Giant shouting ‘Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum!’
For Outdoor Learning, we matched up different types of leaves and then went on a leaf hunt in the woodland. We found lots of different leaves!
During Celtic Croft this week we learned about tweed. We learned about how people in the past would stretch the tweed and sing a song. We tied our jumpers together to make a long piece of tweed and then sang a song just like people did a long time ago. We then created our own tweed designs.
Congratulations to Vivaan who is our Hot Chocolate winner this week as he has shown a keen interest in all the work related to Jack and the Beanstalk. Also a huge well done to Viaan who is our Reading Champion this fortnight. He has been asking lots of great questions about Jack and the Beanstalk.
