Primary 2/1 Learning Highlights 30th May 2025
This week the Friendly Dragon brought us the story of Hansel and Gretel. The dragon asked us to design a healthy lunchbox for them as they had been eating too many sweets. We learned all about the different food groups and foods we should have a lot of, some and only a little of. We drew lots of lovely food in the lunchboxes for Hansel and Gretel and labelled them correctly.
In Maths, we learned about Venn Diagrams and sorted different sweets into these. We were very confident in showing our understanding.
On Thursday, the Dragon asked us to teach Hansel and Gretel about keeping their teeth healthy. We discussed which foods were good and bad for our teeth. Some people made toothbrushes during play using the junk modelling material and some people wrote letters to help Hansel and Gretel and posted them in the post box.
Mrs Meikle handed us in a giant toothbrush to use with the model teeth and we decided it was the perfect size for the Giant. We left it out for him and he sent us a letter to say thank you. It was even his favourite colour!
The Dragon was impressed with our learning about healthy eating so it left us some fruit to taste. We enjoyed tasting raspberries, blueberries, melon, mango and pomegranate. There was nothing left at the end!
We have been practising for our Fairyland Assembly next week and we can’t wait to share our learning with our adults.
Here are some of our personal learning highlights this week:
Martha – I enjoyed doing fruit tasting.
Amariah – I enjoyed reading the letter from the giant.
Zenith – I enjoyed doing good and bad for your teeth.
Dhawan – I enjoyed making the lunchbox.
Elsie – I enjoyed doing the lunchboxes.
Danvith – I enjoyed the fruit tasting.
Congratulations to Viaan who is our Hot Chocolate winner this week. He has been confidently reading his lines for the assembly.
