P3 Week Beginning 11th August 2025

A big hello to all the families of P3!  What fantastic children you have!  We have had a lovely few days together, having fun and getting to know one another.  As each day passes, we will incorporate more and more learning.  This week we have been getting refamiliarized with school life; the routines and expectations of behaviour.  The layout of the classroom means that your child is in one of 3 table groups.  The names they chose for them are: The Red Pandas, The Polar Bears and The Ferrets.  Each week one of the table groups will share what they have enjoyed most about their week.  I hope you enjoy looking at the photographs together and discussing what you see and read.  This week we have The Red Pandas:

Daniel enjoyed learning about ‘The Feast of the Assumption’.  We learned that Mary ascended into Heaven and this is remembered each year on the 15th August.  We learned about the meaning of the words of the Hail Mary prayer and next week we will learn actions to accompany the words.

Alex said he really enjoyed playing with the blocks during ‘Choosing our own Learning’ time.

Leighton liked the lesson with Skittles.  Depending on what colour the children chose, they had to answer a question before eating it.  The questions were either: What job would you like to do when you are older?   Who lives in your house/s? or Would you like to be a tiny horse or an enormous chicken?  Leighton thought she would like to be a tiny horse as she liked the idea of being really small.

Laaibah has enjoyed playing with some LOL dolls with her friends.

Viaan loved PE where the children have been practising the 3 different passes required for Benchball: chest pass, bounce pass and overhead pass.  We had a little practise of playing the game after developing these ball skills but will properly learn next week.

Danvith has loved listening to our class novel, The Twits.  So far, we have learned about one trick that Mrs Twit played on Mr Twit and afterwards we learned about the different parts of the eye and drew our eye.  Ask your child if they can remember the trick involving an eyeball!

Amelia liked colouring in and has been a frequent visitor to the craft area this week during ‘Choosing our own Learning’ time.

Maja enjoyed drawing Mr and Mrs Twit.  At first, the children listened to the character descriptions in the novel and using their imagination, they had to draw them.  Afterwards I revealed what they looked like to see if they were close.

Tyler F has loved playing Connect 4 with friends.

Nathan liked the feelings check-in each morning.

I look forward to seeing you all at Meet the Teacher next Wednesday after school.  Don’t worry if you cannot make it as I will send a copy of any slides home the following day.

Just a little reminder about labelling your child’s jumper and water bottle.  Thank you.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and manage to enjoy some of the lovely weather.

Mrs Brown
