P3 Week Beginning 1st September 2025
Hello p3 families! Here are our highlights this week from The Red Pandas:
Leighton has been enjoying our learning about Viking longhouses. She thought the fact that they used animal horns for cups quite fascinating!
Amelia has continued to like playing benchball at PE.
Maja said the highlight of her week were the lessons on 2D shapes and she made a lovely picture of a house using these shapes.
Laaibah loved our 3D shape learning. Our new learning in P3 is about the square-based pyramid and triangular prism. We explore the 2D links and how many faces, edges and vertices they have. So far, we have made the square-based pyramid.
Tyler F also liked learning about 3D shapes. We played a game called ‘Pass the Shape’ to some music.
Daniel has chosen our lesson on revising the ‘ai’ sound that is found in the middle of words as his favourite. Next, we will be revising the ‘ay’ sound found at the end of words.
Viaan thought our lesson on question words was interesting. Our theme was what animal we would like and had to think of different questions to ask someone if we did not know how to look after it. Viaan wanted a cat and his questions were: Who can feed a cat? Where can you keep it safe? Do you wash a cat? and Who will put it to sleep? He remembered to use a question mark at the end of each written question. Well done, Viaan!
Alex loved the lesson about The 10 Commandments and was able to recall many of them the next day.
Danvieth said his favourite learning was with Mrs Morrison were the children continued to listen and join in with the singing for ‘Treasure Island’.
Nathan said that the teamwork games during PE was his favourite part of the week. The children got in to teams and it was a race to see who could pass the ball over and under in a pattern first.
My highlight was our lesson on the longhouses. The children did their own research using nonfiction books. We looked at Contents pages and located the longhouses from that information. Mostly we looked at the pictures and there was a lot of rich discussion around what they saw. Laaibah spotted that some of them were a triangular prism! Well done, Laaibah!
Seesaw codes were unable to be printed this week (cyber attack implications) but we have our fingers crossed for next week. Also, reading assessments for P3 should be finished by next week also, so the hope is for reading books to be able to go home as part of homework after the September weekend.
