Primary 1B Learning Highlights 5th September 2025
This week has been a busy week in Primary 1B. We have started learning sounds and have learned all about the letter ‘m’. We have been using red pencils to write the letter, sorting pictures to show the m sound at the beginning or the end and also listening carefully to hear the sound in words. At the art table we could make a mouse picture using the letter shape and this was a very popular activity. For writing, we wrote a sentence about what makes us sad and everyone was able to write our common word for this week which was ‘I’.
In maths, we have been learning about numbers 4 and 5. We have been using Rekenreks to represent the numbers and we were showing confidence in using one push to show the correct number of beads. We have also been developing our subitising skills using ten frames.
For science, we have started to learn all about the five senses. We started with our sense of touch this week. Ask us what part of the body we use for our sense of touch. We had to use our sense of touch to identify items hidden inside balloons and this was really fun. We also looked at different textures and made a picture to sort different materials by their texture.
This week we started our Outdoor Learning sessions. We were working in the Woodland this week and we used our sense of touch to find different textures in the Woodland. We also learned all about Sticky Boots, ask us what we need to do for this. We then had some time to explore the Woodland.
Here are some of our personal highlights:
Mikayla – I have enjoyed drawing and helping my friends.
Amelia – I enjoyed doing ‘m’.
Niall – I enjoyed doing the hand task.
Irha – I enjoyed doing writing.
Aria – I enjoyed drawing.
Eloran – I enjoyed doing the hand task.
Congratulations to this week’s Hot Chocolate Winner who is Aria. She has been working very hard on her literacy tasks and has been a fantastic friend to others.
