Primary 1B Learning Highlights 12th September 2025
This week we have been learning all about the numbers 6 and 7 in Numeracy and Maths. We have been practising forming the numbers by rolling dice and looking at the pattern. We also sorted different pictures to show 5,6 and 7.
In Literacy, we have been learning all about the ‘c’ sound and the common word ‘can’. We had to sort picture cards and feed them to the monkey if they had m at the beginning or the cat if they had c. We also completed a worksheet to show which pictures began with m or c. In writing, we wrote a sentence with I can. We were all able to find and write the two common words correctly. We have been learning about putting a full stop at the end of the sentence and we tried to remember to put this at the end of our sentence. We have started ERIC time after lunch and we have been very good at getting a book and reading it quietly.
In RE, we have been learning about the sign of the cross and how to do this correctly. We are getting very good at remembering our daily prayers.
In Science, we have been learning all about our sense of hearing. We looked at what the inside of our ears look like and how they work. We then completed a Seesaw task to match the sound with the correct picture.
In PE, we had the hula hoops out again and we were pretending they were bubbles. We had to move round the room carefully so that we didn’t burst any bubbles. We then had to put different parts of our bodies in the hoop and try to keep our balance.
For Outdoor Learning this week we were in the playground. We got to use the different equipment during choosing our own learning time. We made bridges with the planks, snakes with the skipping ropes and enjoyed playing with the giant connect four. After break, we met up with our P7 Buddies and completed a listening walk. We drew different pictures of what we could hear inside and outside. It was great fun!
Some of our personal highlights this week are:
Oliver – I enjoyed doing the writing.
Mikayla – I enjoyed drawing.
Alfie – I enjoyed doing the letter ‘c’.
Eloran – I enjoyed learning about ears.
Ignacy – I enjoyed reading the books.
Aayat – I enjoyed playing with the numbers.
Well done to this week’s Hot Chocolate Winner Niall. He has been working very hard in maths and completed the task with his buddy really well.
