Primary 1B Learning Highlights 26th September 2025
This week we have been taking part in Maths Week Scotland. We read the book ’10 Dogs’ and used sausages (not real ones!) to make the bonds of 10. The next day we read the book ‘The Perfect Fit’ and learned all about 2D shapes. We made our own shape monsters which was really fun.
In PE, we became Pirates and we had to run and pick up the treasure and put it in the correct treasure chest. We then had to run between the sharks (cones) and not get gobbled up!
In Literacy, we have been learning the sound ‘p’. We were able to think of lots of different things beginning with p and we have been practising writing the letter using the correct formation. We listened to the story of ‘Pirate Pete and his Smelly Feet’. We then had to order the pictures correctly to show the beginning, middle and end of the story.
We have been learning all about our sense of smell in Science. We discussed things we could and could not smell. Then we used the Silly Scent Pens to find scents that we liked or did not like. Miss Stebbing then told us what the scents were. There was one pen that was cheese scented! It was disgusting.
We spent some time with our Buddies on Thursday morning. We walked up to the park and had great fun exploring. We made sure that we didn’t lose any of the P7 Buddies and they all came back to school safely.
Here are some of our personal highlights from this week:
Aayat – I enjoyed making the shape monsters.
Lincoln – I enjoyed learning about the letter ‘p’.
Ignacy – I enjoyed playing with the blocks.
Grace – I enjoyed doing smelling in Science.
Victoria – I enjoyed smelling the pens.
Hanna – I enjoyed learning the common words.
Congratulations to Eloran who is our Hot Chocolate winner this week. He has been using all the Boost Words and trying hard to write letters correctly.
Our Reading Champion this fortnight is Hanna. She has been trying hard to read books during ERIC time.
