P4B Weekly Highlights 3.10.25
Happy Friday P4b families,
As autumn leaves start to fall, the pupils have been rising to new learning adventures!
In literacy, we had a focus on “sp” and “spr” words, with an introduction on Monday and practicing our knowledge on Tuesday with different stations. This week we had our first practice with “Tuesday Literacy Stations” which went super well! In writing, continuing on with a procedural focus, we made leaflets with instructions on how to use our own inventions we designed. For reading skills, we all worked on predictions of our groups text.
In numeracy, we have been looking at rounding to the nearest 10 with three-digit numbers and have introduced rounding to the nearest 100 today. For beyond number, we have continued on with 3d shapes and exploring the ones we created last week, identifying the number of faces, vertices and edges.
The star of the show was our topic work this week, where the inventions we have been planning and designing has come to life with lots of glue, paint and glitter! Thank you for the donations of resources that can upcycled! This led us very nicely into a focus of recycling in health and wellbeing (and continuing fairtrade fortnight with Mrs Roy). We linked our outdoor learning with photography and art, taking out iPads to take photos of objects with different perspectives: birds eye view, eye level, worm eye view, wide view and close up. We then came back into the class and showcased this on a poster. We had our first opportunity of learning how to use the bible respectfully, then identifying and reading the biblical references given.
Pupil Highlights:
Our final matches of basketball
Introduction to hockey in PE
Building thinking classrooms in maths looking at rounding
