P1A Weekly Highlights 16th January 2026
We have had a busy week this week in P1A. In Literacy we have been learning the sounds l and r. We have been learning how to form the letters correctly and say and read words with these sounds. We have completed lots of cvc buliding and lookalike words for comprehension.
In Maths we have worked on subtraction using a number line and a tens frame. We have been practising counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s.
We started working on our new topic Our Local Area, we looked at the world map and found where Scotland was, then we looked at the UK and spoke about the countries within and we identified Scotland and where Livingston is located.
We looked at article 28 the right to education and spoke about the importance of education and why school is important. We discussed what we like about school and how school makes us feel. We then made a class display to show this.
Our learning highlights:
‘I liked making things’ Marley
‘I liked writing’ Ini
‘I liked counting’ Monika
‘I liked playing outside’ Paulo
Mrs Russell – ‘I loved our writing lesson and watching how well you can write your sounds and remember to use finger spaces and full stops.’
Well done to St Francis our winning house this week and Congratulations to Zahra our Hot Chocolate winner.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
