P1A Weekly Highlights 1st May 2026

Oh what an exciting week we have had in P1A.  It all started on Monday when we received a letter from a Friendly Dragon asking us to help rebuild Fairyland. It has started to disappear because people are not reading enough fairy tales. We all agreed instantly to help and wrote letters to the dragon to tell him. We received another letter on Wednesday asking us to learn about castles and to make flags. The dragon had lost it’s castle home and wanted our help to rebuild it. We created some beautiful flags.  We think the Dragon will be impressed.  We also learned about the parts of a castle. We then drew a picture and labelled it correctly.  We received castle books from the Dragon to put all our Fairyland work in to keep it safe.

In Literacy we wrote descriptive sentences about a dragon.  We continue to practise our common words and sounds.

In Maths we looked at sharing zoo animals into enclosures.  We used concrete materials to share out between different numbers of people and we learned what the term division means.

We worked in the playground looking at numbers up to 30 and practising forming letters with chalk and sounding out and writing cvc words.  We have enjoyed playing outside in the lovely weather.

On Friday we went into the woodlands and completed a match the animal game.  We then went on a minibeast hunt and ticked off the different ones we could find.  We were very excited to see up close lots of minibeasts.

We all agreed the highlight of our week was getting the letter from the dragon.

Congratulations to Zaraan our Hot Chocolate winner.

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend everyone and we will see you all again on Tuesday.
