P1A Weekly Learning Highlights 5th June 2026

Another great week in Primary 1A.  This week the Dragon left us the story of Hansel and Gretel.  We had to design a house made of sweets and for writing we wrote what the house was made of.  We continued a pattern and compared different character sizes.  We watched an alternative story for Hansel and Gretel and made puppets to retell the story.  We learned about looking after our teeth and sorted good and bad food for our teeth.  We played a game on the iPad on how to properly brush teeth.

We practised formation of letters and read the story using magnifying glasses to find high frequency words.

We looked at numbers to 30 and practised formation of numbers.  We also used the Beetbots and got to programme with instructions to make them move.

On Tuesday we had a visit to the library.  We got to ask questions and had the opportunity to look at lots of books.  We all got a book marker and a form if we want to join the library.  We also got information on the Library’s Summer Challenge.  Mrs Russell was very proud of our behaviour and our listening skills.

As part of the World Cup our class are learning about the country France.  We made French flags and located France on a world map.
