P1A Week Beginning 7th September 2026

Hello P1A families!

Here are our ‘best bits’ from the Red Table (again we have had a number of absences this week so only have 4 reporting this time):

Emily enjoyed our writing lesson this week where we put in to practise the 2 previous common words we have been learning, ‘I’ and ‘can’ and wrote a sentence that started this way.  Emily wrote, “I can play with Archie.”  Good job everyone!

Casey liked our outdoor learning in the woodland.  We have been learning about the sense of hearing this week and hoped to listen for sounds in nature.  Unfortunately, it was a windy day when we went up so could mostly just hear the wind blowing through the trees.  Casey did claim to hear some birds chirping though.

Archie said he has been enjoying our learning about the letter sound ‘c’.  In our Mystery Box, we had: a cat, a carrot and a candle, among a few other things.  Ask your child if they can remember what else was in there!

Luca liked meeting his buddy.  On Friday, the children met their buddies officially for the first time and enjoyed their time together where the P7 read a story to the P1.  There will be different opportunities throughout the year for the buddies to work together.  The children are very excited about this!

My highlight has been our new self-registration activity.  The children find their photo in a coloured bowl that matches their table name.  Once they have all done this, we count how many people are present.  We find it on the number line.  The children know that if the top ten frame is filled in, they just count on.  Super mathematicians in P1A!  (See it in the photos below)

I hope you have been enjoying your weekend!

Thank you to everyone who has sent in photos on Seesaw of any homework activities your child has chosen to complete.  We have enjoyed sharing this learning together!

Congratulations to Leah, our hot chocolate award winner for this week!
