P1A Week Beginning 28th September 2026
Hello P1A families!
I hope you enjoy reading about what the Red table enjoyed learning about at school this week. Two absences so a bit short this week:
Archie loved making shape monsters. The children revised the 2D shapes they learned in nursery (square, circle, triangle and rectangle) and used these shapes to build shape monsters. Each of them looked very unique. Next week we will look at 3D shapes and search for squares, circles, rectangles and triangles within them.
Maddison said she enjoyed tasting Fairtrade chocolate the best. Fairtrade Fortnight has taken place and the children have been learning about farmers, in other parts of the world, who do not get enough money to support their families. How unfair! They now know that if they buy products with the Fairtrade logo, that these products have been sourced from farmers who do. The children tasted dark, milk, mint and white chocolate and after each one, they told me if they liked it or did not like it in Spanish.
Emily also liked our learning about Fairtrade. We went to Morrisons to buy Fairtrade bananas and before we ate them, we had fun turning them in to a Bananaman with chocolate chips and pretzel sticks. I showed the children an old Bananman cartoon from when I was a child and they enjoyed watching this as they munched on their Bananaman. We also went shopping on Tesco.com to see what Fairtrade products they sold.
Casey loved playing in the Area and had super fun using the blocks to build a skateboard park! It was so much fun watching the children balance on a flat piece of wood and slide down a slope that they made. P1A are very creative!
My highlight was our trip to Morrisons. The children behaved very well on the walk up, down and during the visit in the shop, showing St John Ogilvie Ready, Respectful and Safe values in their behaviours. On the way, we spotted some signs of Autumn on the leaves and some blackberries!
I look forward to welcoming you all next Tuesday or Thursday for parent teacher consultations. It will be lovely to meet the families of these very special children once again and share all of their successes.
Have a super weekend!
Mrs Brown
