Primary 1B Learning Highlights 30th October 2026

This week we have been learning all about the letter ‘i’ and the common word ‘is’. We made a word bank of adjectives to describe the pumpkins and used these in a sentence. Miss Stebbing was very impressed with how hard everyone tried to sound out the word pumpkin.

In Maths, we have been estimating. We had to cut a piece of wool to fit around the pumpkin and then measured it to see if it was too short, too long or just right. We then looked at pictures of pumpkin seeds on the board and had to estimate how many there were. We then counted them to check if our estimates were correct.

We had lots of fun on Friday doing Halloween crafts, dooking for apples in the water tray and playing some games. Our favourite game was spider races when we had to blow the plastic spider across the table using a straw.

Here are some of our personal highlights from this week:

Maya – I enjoyed playing the spider races.

Leo – I enjoyed learning ‘i’.

Penelope – I enjoyed playing the hoopla witch’s hat game.

Rio – I enjoyed playing the Halloween games.

Freddie – I enjoyed dooking for apples.

Ava – I enjoyed making the monster donuts.
