Primary 1B Learning Highlights 6th November 2026
This week we have been learning all about Bonfire Night. We learned lots of different safety rules and made a poster telling everyone to ‘Keep Back’ from the fire. We were very good at remembering all the different rules and told other staff.
We celebrated All Soul’s Day on Monday and we made candles to remember people who have died. We are also learning the Eternal Rest Prayer.
We have been learning about Diwali. We made our own Diya lamps and we have displayed these in our classroom. We also learned about Rangoli patterns. We read a story called ‘The Best Diwali Ever’.
In Literacy, we have been learning about the k sound. We also learned the ‘ck’ sound and know these sounds work together to make one sound usually at the end of a word. We have been trying hard to spell words using these sounds.
In Maths, we have been looking at the number bonds of 5 and played a special firework task to help us. We learned about part, part, whole models too. We have been continuing our work on subitising and we are getting more confident explaining what we have seen.
Here are some of our personal highlights from this week:
Penelope – I enjoyed drawing pictures.
Maya – I enjoyed learning about the number 15.
Millie – I enjoyed learning about ‘ck’.
Moses – I enjoyed learning about subitising.
Alan – I enjoyed making a picture of a mummy in the art area.
Congratulation to Cai who is our Hot Chocolate winner this week. He has tried very hard to use his sounds in his writing and to count carefully in maths.
