P1A Week Beginning 2nd November 2026

Hello P1 families!

I hope that you are all well.  Here are our learning highlights from the Yellow table:

Luke said that he enjoyed discovering what was in this week’s mystery box for the ‘k’ sound (we also covered ‘ck’ this week too).  We had some ketchup, a key (we had to guess what it opened), a keychain and a keyboard.

Aidel loved the lesson we had for ‘All Souls’ Day’.  We learned that our souls go up to Heaven when we die and prayed for all who have died, including our pets.  We wrote their names inside a special flower.  We put these around our class Altar to form a lovely November Prayer Garden.  Aidel didn’t know anyone or had any pet that died so she prayed for Mrs Brown’s dog, Sam.

Danny liked making and flying a kite for our ‘k sound.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t too windy when we were flying them but the children had fun nonetheless.

Vinayak said the best lesson for him was making a bonfire picture.  This was part of our learning about keeping safe on Bonfire Night (pictures were put on Seesaw showing these super pictures as well as safety posters made during Writing time with the important message, ‘Keep back’.  I was so proud of how everyone sounded out their words and used ‘Inky’s Vowel House’ display to find the ‘ee’ sound).

Ellie said she loved today’s learning about Diwali, the special Hindu festival that some of our class will be celebrating this weekend.  The children made a craft lantern to guide Rama and Sita home.  Ask you child if they can remember the story of Rama and Sita.   We also did some traditional Indian dancing too!  Here is the link to the story we heard today: The Hindu Story of Rama and Sita | Religions of the World

Leah enjoyed PE this week were the children rotated around stations.  She liked the one where she was bouncing balls the best.

My highlight, like Aidel, was our lesson about All Souls.  We had a very special discussion about what Heaven will be like, according to what is revealed in the Bible.  We passed a cross around, with the light off and a candle flickering on the smartboard as we said the name of the person or pet we wanted to pray for.

Congratulations to our Hot Chocolate winner this week, Danny.

Just a little reminder about our P1A parent event on Monday 16th at 2pm.  If you are unable to attend, your child’s buddy will be with them so please do not worry.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and to those who are celebrating it, HAPPY DAWALI!

Mrs Brown
